Honey Garlic Chicken in a Slow Cooker

We're going to make a simple Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken today, so save the white Styrofoam container for a more dire situation. With all the charm of your favorite takeaway, but created with natural, healthful ingredients, is its sweet, sticky sauce. There are just eight ingredients in the recipe (nine if you count the rice and are a stickler), all of which you probably already have in your cupboard if you cook Asian food frequently, which means you own soy sauce.

Ingredients:

  1. For the Chicken:
  2. 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or chicken breasts
  3. 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  4. 1/3 cup honey
  5. 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  6. 2 teaspoons chili paste sambal oelek, sriracha, or hot sauce of choice
  7. 4 cloves garlic minced
  8. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  9. 2 tablespoons cornstarch

 Directions:

Step:No:01

Fill the slow cooker with your chicken. Combine the sauce ingredients in a mixing dish and drizzle it over the chicken. Cook until the chicken is done, about 4 to 5 hours on LOW or 2 to 3 hours on HIGH. The delicious sauce will cover the chicken!

Step:No:02

Transfer the chicken to a cooling plate. Cook the cornstarch in the slow cooker until the sauce thickens, whisking it in immediately.

Step:No:03

After shredding the chicken, put it back in the slow cooker. Coat the chicken with the sauce by stirring it. Enjoy it as desired (I prefer to serve it over rice with sesame seeds and green onions on top).
