Recipe for Beef Lo Mein

 This simple Beef Lo Mein is perfect for a busy family because it cooks quickly, can be adjusted to fit any veggies you have in the fridge, and is perfect for both dinner and lunch tomorrow. provided that you don't finish it all in one sitting.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 pound sirloin top round steak, or flank steak
  2. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  3. 6 tablespoons water divided
  4. 6 ounces long noodles such as whole grain spaghetti or whole grain fettuccine, soba noodles, or udon noodles
  5. 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce plus additional to taste
  6. 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  7. 4 cloves garlic minced or grated (about 1 heaping tablespoon)
  8. 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh ginger
  9. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes plus additional to taste
  10. 1 tablespoon canola oil or peanut or grapeseed oil
  11. 2 medium carrots peeled and cut into thin coins
  12. 1 head broccoli cut into small florets (about 3 cups), or 3 cups thinly sliced cabbage
  13. 1 red bell pepper cored and thinly sliced
  14. 1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts drained
  15. 4 green onions thinly sliced divided
  16. 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil optional






Directions:

Step:No:01

Get the beef ready. After slicing it, dip it in the baking soda concoction.

Step:No:02

Prepare the noodles. Just until they are al dente, cook them.

Step:No:03

Combine the Sauce by stirring it. For this, a liquid measuring cup works well.

Cook the sauce-covered beef. When the inside is still somewhat pink, remove it.

Saute the veggies. Crisp-tender is the desired texture.
